Court Services Department
The Court Services Department at the Toledo Municipal Court schedules a variety of court events for all seven judges in addition to providing a multitude of services to the courtrooms. The scheduling of court events are based on the judge’s scheduling preferences and the court’s seven week rotation. Criminal & Traffic cases are automatically assigned by the scheduling system upon a defendant entering a not-guilty plea. Civil cases are automatically assigned when an answer or a motion other than for default judgment is filed. All housing matters, both criminal and civil, are assigned to the housing court judge at the time of filing. In addition to scheduling court events for judges, the court services department also schedules some court events for the two magistrates.
The Court Services Department manages judges’ court schedules, sends out weekly and bi-monthly calendars regarding court schedules, arranges jurors for jury trials, coordinates visiting judges and stand-by magistrates when coverage is needed.
The Court Services department also notifies applicable parties of upcoming court dates, scheduled probation violations, and works closely with other court departments and works closely with outside agencies that provide services to the Toledo Municipal Court.
The Court Services Department also manages:

Electronic Monitoring
Electronic Monitoring is an alternative to traditional pre-trial/sentenced incarceration and assists in reducing jail population while maintaining supervision of clients. It involves having an individual wear a device that transmits a signal detailing a person’s location or alcohol content. The Lucas County Common Pleas Court has provided electronic monitoring to Toledo Municipal Court since August 2018. Visit the Electronic Monitoring Program webpage to learn more.
