Court Overview
What We Do
The Toledo Municipal Court was created by the Ohio General Assembly in Chapter 1901 of the Ohio Revised Code. The Toledo Municipal Court includes a Housing Division, which has its own website, which handles criminal housing and civil housing cases. The jurisdiction of the court includes the City of Toledo, Ottawa Hills, and Washington Township. Seven full-time judges serve on the Toledo Municipal Court. The court handles the following matters:
Misdemeanor cases
Traffic and some parking violations
Felony cases (initial appearance only)
Civil actions (matters up to $15,000), dog warden appeals, BMV administrative appeals, proceedings in aid, and trusteeships
Small claims (matters Up to $6,000)
Marriage ceremonies
