Authority & Jurisdiction

The Toledo Municipal Court is established under Ohio Revised Code §1901.01. The jurisdiction of the court is bound by territorial and subject matter limitations.

Subject Matter Jurisdiction

• Misdemeanor cases

• Traffic and parking violations

• Felony cases (initial appearance/preliminary hearing only)

• Civil actions (matters Up to $15,000)

• Small claims (matters Up to $6,000)

• Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) administrative appeals
